Renegade is a hardy variety that can be grown almost all year round. Outdoors, it can be grown in spring, summer, and autumn. In a tunnel, it can be sown in September for harvest in October-November, provided that the weather doesn't get too cold early in autumn. The leaves are smooth, and the taste is distinctly mild and sweet.
