Milan Purple Top

Flat-round variety, white with purple near the leaf base. Easy to grow and fast-maturing. Turnips have a mild and delicate cabbage flavor, somewhat reminiscent of rutabagas. They are easy to grow and mature quickly, and should be harvested when small. Turnips are sensitive to high summer temperatures and drought.

The quality is best when grown in spring or, even better, towards late summer, as there is less risk of attack by the cabbage root fly. Cover the crop with insect netting to prevent attacks from pests such as cabbage root flies and cabbage moths.
